"What is Apprenticeship?"
GEBBCA is an approved state-certified apprenticeship workforce development program for Barbers and Cosmetologists. All classes are taught by licensed credtialed instructors. The aspect that makes our program unique is that we give people an opportunity. We have an open door policy to all interested apprenticeship candidates and salon owners seeking approval to start sattelite programs within their counties.
To be successful, the individual must have perseverance, ambition, and initiative. Like a college education, the successful completion of an apprenticeship term does not come easily, but is the result of hard work on the part of the apprentice.
Apprenticeship consists of two components:
1. Pre-Apprenticeship Training
2. Two-Year On the Job Training
Apprenticeship is a two year on the job training program which combines a hands on experience with a classroom component of related instruction. The process is earn while you learn and learn while doing. Applicants must be a minimum of 16-years of age (or older) and have completed the 10th grade or recieved a high school equivalent (GED).
